Attack on Onnor is the 4th episode of The New Adventures of He-Man.

Skeletor pretends to talk peace with Werban of Primus, but manipulates him into lowering the planetary shield instead so the Evil Mutants can attack the cities of Onnor and Levitan.

Plot Summary[]

On the Mutant Mothership, Flogg announces that Hoove and Karatti have got past the shield. Skeletor is pleased, but has another plan, revealing that he intends to use Werban, an opponent of Master Sebrian, to lower the shield.

Attackononnorhemanandgrot

He-Man meets Grot.

On Primus, Caz asks He-Man to tell him more about Skeletor and the Mutants, but He-Man wants to know more about Primus. Caz tells He-Man this is the garden where all of Primus’ food is grown, and it is run by Grot. Just as He-Man is introduced to Grot by Caz, Hoove and Karatti show up in their Terrorclaw, trashing the garden looking for a way to the tubes that lead down to Onnor.

He-Man and Grot team up to stop Hoove and Karatti. As Hoove attacks Grot with the Terrorclaw, He-Man fights Karatti. Karatti manages to knock the power sword out of He-Man's hand, kicking him and sending him flying. Hoove tries to finish He-Man, but He-Man fends off the Terrorclaw with his bare hands and breaks its claw into pieces, then Grot tips the Terrorclaw over, forcing Hoove and Karatti to retreat.

Werban arrives in the Oasis riding a Bolajet for a clandestine meeting with Skeletor, who claims he is there to talk about peace. Instead, Skeletor tricks Werban and places a mind controlling necklace around his neck, placing him under Skeletor's influence.

Attackononnorskeletormeetscrita

Skeletor meets Crita.

Later, in the Inner Council Chamber, Sebrian notices Werban is not himself, and Werban proposes to the council that they contact the Mutants and try to come to an agreement with them. Under Skeletor's orders, Werban snatches the key from the Vasionic Resonator and flees. Mara enters, and Sebrian tells her to find Adam. Mara wonders why, and Sebrian assures her that Adam will know how to contact He-Man.

On the Mothership, the Mutants applaud as the shield goes down. Crita calls Skeletor's plan ‘pure genius’. The Mutants prepare to attack and seize the key.

On Levitan, Werban tells a crowd that by lowering the shield they shall have peace, just as Mutant Shuttle Pods swoop in and begin firing at the crowd. Werban's necklace falls off in the confusion, freeing him from Skeletor's control. He realises what he has done and flees to the oasis.

Meanwhile, Gepple creates "Gepple's Goo" and the scientists argue about who exactly invented it. The Scientists propose putting the Goo in the tubes that lead to Onnor, which will stop the invading Mutants from getting through.

Attackononnorwerbandesert

Werban on the run from Skeletor.

Skeletor catches up with Werban in the oasis and tries to take the key from him. They are inturrupted by the arrival of He-Man. Skeletor uses his staff to summon a huge monster from the sands to keep He-Man busy while he pursues Werban, but He-Man realises the monster is afraid of water, and slicing open a nearby cactus which causes the monster to run away. Just as Skeletor is about to take the key from a terrified Werban, He-Man arrives. The two engage in a brief battle, but Skeletor's staff is now weakened after the monster was defeated, and he is forced to retreat.

Back in Onnor, the Mutants attempt to get through the tubes, only to be covered in Gepple's Goo. To make matters worse, Hydron and Flipshot arrive and cover the Mutants in feathers, leading to a humiliating defeat. He-Man and Werban return, and Werban apologies for his actions, saying he has learnt a difficult lesson.

Moral[]

Grot learns that instead of carrying several things at once, it's better to make several trips.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • Just like in the previous episode, the first footage seen during the recap at the start of the show is a shot from the finale of the fifth episode, The Ultimate Challenge.
  • This is the first time in the series that we see Skeletor and Crita interact, with Crita immediately impressed by Skeletor's cunning. Future episodes would explore a potential romantic connection between the two characters.
  • This episode features the creation of "Gepple's Goo", which would be used multiple times throughout the series.
  • Skeletor is particularly off model in this episode.
  • This episode features the first appearance of Kayo, Vizar and Nocturna outside the opening sequence, though they are all silent and do not receive a formal introduction. The series does not reveal the origins of their characters or how they came to join the Galactic Guardians.
  • Mara wonders why she is told to contact Adam; asking how a simple trader can help them find He-Man. Mara's suspicions of Adam would be an ongoing plot thread throughout the series, as she gradually came to suspect that he and He-Man were one and the same.
  • This episode features the first appearance of Grot. The series bible included an expanded backstory for Grot, stating that he was saved by alien slavers by the people of Primus. This backstory was never alluded to in the actual series.
  • This episode features a strong showing for Karatti, showing him as one of the most capable fighters amongst the Mutants, and one of the few to ever present a real challenge to He-Man.
  • Though Werban is less hostile to Master Sebrian in the future, he does maintain his belief that peace may be possible, despite the events of this episode.
  • This is the only time in the series we would actually see Werban pilot any kind of vehicle.
  • Karatti's voice is incorrectly dubbed over footage of Lizorr in this episode, making it the only time in the series in which he actually speaks.
