Brain Drain is the 44th episode of The New Adventures of He-Man.

Tired of the Mutant's stupidly, Skeletor acquires a Brain Amplifier and dials up their intelligence to genius levels. Now Slush Head, BH and Staghorn are so smart they can anticipate all of the Guardian's moves and demote Skeletor and Flogg to serving them.

Plot Summary[]

Sagitar and Spinwit are being chased down the dark streets of Gorn City on Denebria. Spinwit uses his amazing tornado spin to defect enemy fire. He-Man has just freed some of Skeletor's slaves and now engages his old enemy one to one.

After his defeat, Skeletor is venting his frustration in one of the Gorn City bars. He laments that even though the Mutants are stronger than the humans and despite cheating, they never ever win. Former mayor Korac appears out of the shadows and offers Skeletor a way to make his Mutants smarter. He introduces them to a device called a Brain Amplifier and demonstrates it on a Denebrian Zeeb Ape. Skeletor takes the machine without paying. Korac swears revenge and manages to tell He-Man about the stolen Brain Amplifier just as the Guardians were about to leave for Primus in the Starship Eternia.

Back in the Mutant Mothership near Nordor, Skeletor is using the amplifier on Slush Head, who instantly becomes so smart that he can modify the machine to be used as a brain-ray and thus work on several Mutants at the same time. Skeletor hits BH and Staghorn with the brain-ray, who quickly deduce that Korac must have told He-Man about the theft and predict when the Primans will arrive and where they will land.

Slush Head captures Sagitar after his arrival on Nordor. BH, now wearing a monocle, bowler hat and tails, uses a large magnet to disarm and defeat Spinwit. Skeletor orders He-Man to surrender and is soon bound up in Energy Chains.

Staghorn has invented a Moon Engine. When placed on the center of Nordor's rotation, it will push it out of it's orbit, leaving it's mass to crush the shield around Primus. Flogg has been demoted to cleaning up after the smarter Mutants and feeding the prisoners. He-Man asks the Sorceress for advice. When Flogg brings them their food, He-Man tricks Flogg into taking him to the other Mutants and breaks the lock on the door as he leaves, so the others can escape.

He-Man tells the smart Mutants that Skeletor intends to use the Brain Amplifier to turn them back into their old stupid selves after Primus is conquered, as he told He-Man earlier when he left the Guardians in their cel. When Skeletor arrives on the bridge, the Mutants tell him that they are taking over from him and begin to divide up the Tri-Solar System.

He-Man manages to break free from his chains just as Spinwit and Sagitar appear on the bridge. As a laser gun fight erupts, Skeletor shoots the Mutants from behind with the brain-ray, regressing their intelligence to even lower than it originally was. Flogg uses his Light Whip to whip them into shape. He-Man stops the Moon Engine from spinning using his bare hands. The entire room starts to spin as He-Man uses his strenght to return moon Nordor to it's original orbit around Denebria. Before leaving he uses his magic sword to destroy the Brain Amplifier. The Guardians escape in the Eternia and head back to Primus.

Moral[]

Sagitar and Spinwit both want to look at a new comet through a large telescope. He-Man tells them to take turns instead of argue.

Behind the Scenes[]

Errors[]

  • At the end of the adventure when the heroes head home, Spinwit says "Moon Nordor has returned to it's orbit, He-Man" but is drawn to look like Flipshot instead. He is correctly drawn and addressed by He-Man as Spinwit in the next shot.
