Crita is a character from the 1990 animated series The New Adventures of He-Man. She was not featured as an action figure. She is notable for being the only female villain in the series and a potential love interest for the character of Skeletor.

The New Adventures of He-Man[]

Crita was the only female member of the bridge crew of the Mutant Mothership and one of Flogg's top Lieutenants. Aboard the Mothership, Crita was the communications specialist, and had her own station which could run scans and open communication channels. Unlike most of the Mutants, Crita was very intelligent and devious, and harboured her own ambitions and desires for power. When Skeletor arrived in the future, Crita was immediately drawn to him, praising his plans as "genius" and complimenting his evil personality[1]. Skeletor returned her affections, and the two frequently engaged in flirtatious behaviour, much to Flogg's annoyance[2].

Crita was a capable fighter; she was able to expertly pilot a Mutant Shuttle Pod and used usually carried a whip into battle[3]. She was also seen to use a ring which fired magical energy blasts and a jewelled sceptre[4].

Seeing Crita's ambition, Skeletor later suggested that she be sent to the planet Necron as the Mutant representative to the evil Gleanon warriors and their leader, General Nifel. Crita arrived on Necron, ostensibly to negotiate a deal with the Gleanons for Transium Ore to be supplied to the Mutant armada, but in reality, she planned to usurp Nifel's command and become the Gleanons' Queen[5]. Crita initially helped the Gleanons in a plan to captured President Pell, personally accompanying the Gleanon force which captured his ship. While Pell was rescued by He-Man, Crita later returned to Necron and proposed another scheme to General Nifel. In exchange for Crita's help, Nifel presented her with a new "warrior queen" outfit and whip. Crita then transformed the Gleanons - traditionally a naval force - into a ground army[6].

Crita soon developed a deep hatred for, and rivalry with, Mara, who was also sent to the planet to help the peaceful Mytes. Initially dismissive of Mara as "Master Sebrian's little helper", Crita soon came to despise Mara as she continually foiled her plans for conquest[7]. Crita continued to try and destroy Mara and the Mytes, but her relationship with General Nifel soured; as Nifel grew tired of her repeated failures. Weary of serving under Nifel, Crita plotted to actively destroy him, even going as far as to trap him within the Maze of Loom so that she could declare herself Queen of the Gleanons. Though Nifel escaped, he remained unaware of Crita's treachery, and decided that if he needed the Mutants' help in the future, allowing Crita to be Queen was his best chance[8].

Mara vs Crita

Following the Mutants loss at the Galactic Games, Flogg decided to attack Primus with everything he had, including having the Gleanons, under Crita's leadership, assist them. Crita arrived with a huge fleet of Gleanon ships and troopers and attacked Nathan and his villagers in the Oasis. After Flogg, realizing he had finally lost, agreed to surrender and sign a peace treaty with Primus, Skeletor flew into a rage and appeared as a huge projection in the sky, denouncing Flogg's cowardice. Enraged, Flogg grabbed a gun from Flipshot and attempted to shoot Skeletor, but Crita quickly intervened, leaping to Skeletor's defence and knocking the gun from Flogg's hand with a flying kick. Furious, Flogg told Crita she had made her decision, and to perish along with Skeletor.

Crita was then transported, along with Skeletor, Mara and He-Man, to the ancient ruins in the Oasis, where they engaged in one final battle. While Skeletor battled He-Man, Crita attacked Mara. The two enemies fought until Crita accidentally pulled down a huge stone pillar. Mara intervened, using her hair-flail to save Crita's life and throw her out of harms way and into Skeletor, knocking both of them from a cliff ledge, where they plummeted into a nearby Shuttle Pod. Using his sword, He-Man then sealed Skeletor and Crita inside, proclaiming them "King Skeletor and Queen Crita, rulers of nothing" before banishing them both into the far reaches of space. Trapped in the Shuttle Pod, Crita asked Skeletor if this was truly the end for them, but Skeletor assured her they would return for revenge[9].

Crita accompanied Skeletor on a mission to steal the power of Grayskull contained within the Starship Eternia. The pair were acting independently of Flogg and his Mutants on this occasion, and merely sought to use them as a distraction to conceal thier presence aboard the ship.

Upon arrival, Skeletor was pained by a strange telepathic link to Anti Keldor. A concerned Crita rushed to his aid, but he assured her it was nothing to worry about.

Soon after, they encountered alternative versions of He-Man from other universes and attacked them. During the fight, Skeletor realized that something more was going on, and knocked Crita unconscious to prevent her from killing one of the alternate He-Men with her whip.

Before leaving with Anti-Keldor, Skeletor told the other He-Men to keep an eye on Crita for him[10].
