David Chappe (November 8, 1947 - May 13, 2002) was a screenwriter who wrote for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (classic cartoon). Chappe is credited with the story for "Disappearing Act", and shares the teleplay credit with Robby London.
Chappe's most prominent work is the screenplay for the 1999 film Beowulf (co-written with Mark Leahy). However, he is perhaps best known for Gale Force, a screenplay about a man protecting a town from criminals during a hurricane. The spec script became infamous for beginning the trend of studios making exorbitant bids on screenplays, although Gale Force itself was ultimately never completed.
