Dreadator is the 49th episode of The New Adventures of He-Man.

Skeletor and Flogg try to enlist a chameleon like gladiator named Dreadator to join the Mutant Space Force. Dreadator becomes obsessed with defeating He-Man, the greatest warrior in the Tri-Solar Galaxy.

Plot Summary[]

Skeletor and Flogg are watching a gladiator named Dreadator in action against another fighter named Ganos. After the fight, they offer the victorious Dreadator membership in the Mutant Space Force as a full lieutenant. Dreadator refuses, but when Skeletor implies that the giant gladiator is afraid to fight He-Man, Dreadator changes his mind.

Dreadator, who has the ability to cloak himself as well as his entire ship, travels to the planet Primus. Even though Hydron reports to Master Sebrian that a strange ship has been detected, they cannot locate it. Caz and Drissi are having a picnic in the desert while Grot looks after their flock. One of Drissi's small pets becomes alarmed and she realizes something dangerous is approaching. The siblings make a run for it and the cloacked Dreadator pursues them.

Hiding in an old ruin, the two young shepherds are startled by Sagitar, who was patrolling the desert. He tells them to leave and that he will take care of it. But Dreadalus takes advantage of his invisiblity by toppling parts of the old ruins over at Sagitar.

Caz and Drissi run into He-Man who just landed a Battle Bird. Meanwhile, Dreadator learns that Sagitar is not the one he seeks and turns him into a stone statue. Soon, the Galactic Guardians have gathered at the desert ruins and the Scientists of Primus have taken molecular samples from the sand to learn more about the camouflage enabled alien. Hydron contacts them on a portable Vision Phone to tell them he has received a priority transmission from Dreadator for He-Man. Dreadator challenges He-Man to a fight at coordinates 47-5, stating that the loser will leave have to leave Primus forever.

Alcon and Gepple have invented two weapons to help He-Man battle Dreadator: a high-pressure paint gun and another gun which fires Gepple's Goo. Meanwhile, Skeletor and Flogg have decided to broadcast the fight live to earn some money for the Mutant Treasury. He-Man uses Gepple Goo on Dreadator, who still manages to hide himself between some boulders. He-Man proves himself to be the stronger fighter, earning the respect of Dreadator. The Mutant audience assembled to watch does not appreciate this turn of events and begins to boo and throw fruit at Skeletor and Flogg's Mutants.

As promised, Dreadator leaves Primus in his ship. Sagitar wonders where he will go now to seek out new oponents, and He-Man answers he told Dreadator that there are a lot of strong fighters on moon Nordor. They both laugh at this.

Moral[]

Caz has decided to quit his education and join the Galactic Guardians now. But Sagitar asks him to produce his diploma and He-Man explains the importance of finishing a school education.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • Dreadator’s name and powers appear to have been an homage to the 1987 film Predator, and his armor bore a striking resemblance to Skeletor’s classic design.

Errors[]

  • When Drissi notices the shimmering light of Dreadator's cloaked form in the distance, Caz stands up and for a few frames the shimmering effect is projected over Caz by mistake.
