Hydron is an action figure from the Mattel He-Man toy line and a character from the 1990 animated series The New Adventures of He-Man.

History[]

Minicomics[]

Hydron is the leader of the Galactic Guardians from the planet Primus. Hydron first appears in the minicomic "The New Adventure", where he and Flipshot go to Eternia searching for He-Man, but Skeletor tricks them into thinking he is He-Man, and makes them siphon the power of Castle Grayskull into their ship, but Prince Adam arrives into the ship, becomes He-Man and reveals the truth to the Galactic Guardians.

The New Adventures of He-Man[]

Hydron was a Galactic Guardian who heiled from the underwater city of Serus on Primus. Hydron was the only member of his family who left Serus to live on the surface, where he rose to the rank of Captain in the Primus military, while his sister, Aquata, became the administrator of their home city. Hydron took a no-nonsense approach to his work and was a born leader. Hydron honoured his origins by wearing a green suit of armour which contained a scuba helmet which would allow him to breathe underwater, and in space[1].

Though the people of Primus were pacifists who had given up their advanced weapons years ago in place of their defensive shield, Hydron longed for real combat and spent many hours in the starship simulator with his friend, Lieutenant Flipshot. Despite their friendship, Flipshot's boastful antics were a constant source of frustration for Hydron, who frequently had to bring the ace-pilot back to reality.

Along with Flipshot, Hydron was chosen by Master Sebrian to take the time vessel into the distant past and find "the power of the good and the way of the magic", which would save Primus from the Mutants, who were constantly laying siege to their world. Hydron and Flipshot travelled back in time to Eternia, but were captured by Skeletor, who convinced them he was the force of good they sought. Unable to figure out who was good and who was evil, Flipshot and Hydron were forced to take both He-Man and Skeletor back to the future with them before the time portal closed for good. Once in the future, Skeletor revealed his true colours, and He-Man declared his loyalty to Primus, becoming the leader of the Galactic Guardians[2]. Hydron became a good friend of He-Man and served as his loyal second in command when he became leader of the Galactic Guardians, with the two of them often sharing command of the group.

Hydron was excited to raise "the starship" from the underground city of Onnor, claiming he had waited his whole life for the moment. He and Flipshot decided to name their starship the "Eternia" in honour of the He-Man's home world[3].
