The Heat is the 3rd episode of The New Adventures of He-Man.

Only the four Scientists of Primus are able to fix the Trifusium Generator, so the Evil Mutants decide to kidnap them and take them to Slush Head's home, the Quagmi Swamp on Denebria.

Plot Summary[]

The Scientists try to fix the Trithuseum generator, bickering and showing off amongst themselves. When Krex asks to be cooled down, the robot U-R, irritated, freezes him in a block of ice.

Slush Head kidnaps Krex.

After He-Man returns with the crystals to the Scientists, he and the other Galactic Guardians are called away to Levitan, which is apparently under attack by the Mutants. In reality, this is a trick, and the Mutants lured He-Man and the others away in order to kidnap the Scientists.

Skeletor attempts to interrogate the scientists, but finds them too terrified and hysterical to get any useful information from. Losing his patience, he tells them they will soon arrive at the Quagmi Swamp on Denebria, where he expects He-Man to fall into his trap.

On Primus, Gleep and He-Man find UR, who has a homing device to track the scientists with. They take the Starship Eternia to Denebria to rescue the scientists, as Skeletor and the Mutants arrive and march into the swamp, with Slush Head thrilled to be home.

Flipshot plants a bomb.

He-Man, Hydron, Flipshot and the robots arrive and plant a bomb on the Mothership, which has been left undefended. The group quickly become trapped in a storm in the swamp, and The Sorceress comes to He-Man in a telepathic message, helping him find a path out of the storm. He-Man tells the Sorceress to wait, but she disappears, leaving him confused. He-Man uses his sword as a beacon in the storm.

The group eventually find and free the scientists, but are confronted by Skeletor and the Mutants. While Flipshot and Hydron battle Hoove and Karatti, He-Man dispatches Flogg and Slush Head. Enraged, Skeletor threatens to harm Gepple if the Guardians do not surrender, but He-Man reveals the bomb back at the Mothership, and threatens to detonate it if Gepple isn't set free. Skeletor is not concerned, but Flogg, unwilling to lose his ship and be stranded here, agrees to He-Man's terms.

The heroes returns to Primus, where the Scientists boast about defeating the Mutants by themselves, and characteristically, He-Man tells Caz ‘It was everyone, working as a team, I just did my part.’

Moral[]

Gleep tells the scientists to check the ice thickness before iceskating.

Behind the Scenes[]

    Slush Head without his helmet.

The first footage seen during the recap at the start of the show is a shot from the finale of the fifth episode, The Ultimate Challenge.
  • This is one of only two episodes of the series in which Slush Head is seen to remove his helmet (the other is Four Ways to Sundown.)
  • Slush Head is seen performing the Mutant salute to Flogg and Skeletor in this episode. The salute would later play an important role in the episode The Battle for Levitan.
  • Adam of Grayskull does not appear in this episode.
  • Flogg is hesitant to believe that He-Man will keep his word at the end of the episode, believing he will break his promise and destroy the Mothership once he releases his prisoners. In the penultimate episode of the series, Flogg's Revenge, there is a call back to this moment, where Flogg finds himself in a similar situation, and tells He-Man he will release his prisoners as long as He-Man gives his word he will let him go. When He-Man asks Flogg how he knows he will keep his word, Flogg chuckles and says "You? Lie? You gotta be kidding".
  • When Flipshot plants the bomb on the Mutant Mothership, he moves in a similar way as the action feature of his figure.
